Our training supports rope access work across maintenance, inspection, painting, window cleaning, water blasting, wind energy and geotechnical applications.

Rope access Certificate of Competence (CoC) assessments
Assessment fees from $375 + GST, plus any SARNZ fees payable by the candidate.
We offer practical Certificate of Competence (CoC) assessments for:
Level 3 — Intermediate Operative
Level 4 — Advanced Operative
Assessments can take place at our training centre or at your workplace, provided suitable facilities and equipment are available.

Entry-level rope access training
Build the foundations for working as part of a rope access team under supervision. This training suits people entering the industry and employers developing new team members.
Training combines equipment familiarisation with practical exercises, tailored to your experience and learning needs.
What you’ll learn
Preparing the work area for rope access activities.
Understanding anchor ratings and equipment limitations.
Tying and checking commonly used rope access knots.
Completing pre-use equipment inspections and buddy checks.
Ascending, descending and changing between rope systems.
Passing knots, re-belays and redirections.
Managing edges and protecting ropes from damage.
Practising simple patient recovery techniques.

Intermediate rope access training
Develop your rope access skills through practical training supported by the theory needed to plan, prepare and carry out industrial rope access work.
Training usually takes one to two weeks, depending on your existing knowledge, practical experience and learning needs.
Training content
The programme covers legislative requirements, equipment inspection and maintenance, planning and preparation, rope access system setup, practical rope techniques and simple patient recovery. This includes NZQA unit standards 19358 - 19363.
Most training time is spent practising rope access techniques, supported by theory, equipment checks and record keeping. You’ll develop familiarity with a range of equipment, including its use, care and inspection.

Rope access training is physically demanding and involves sustained activity while wearing a harness and working on ropes.
