COURSE AIM
To give the trainees the necessary skills and knowledge to complete a permit-to-work within your workplace. To understand the responsibilities of both the permit issuer and permit receiver. Also to understand the fundamental components and reasons for specific work permit types within different workplaces.
Understand the Basics
Our permit-to-work training covers the basics. We outline the reasons for specific work permit types and their role in health and safety.
The Elite Training permit-to-work course covers Unit Standards 17588 and 17590 and all kinds of permits. These range from the isolation of safety systems, to hot work in confined spaces. The permits are categorised in the NZQA Unit Standards. These permits are:
- Confined space entry.
- Excavation/digging
- Isolation of essential services.
- Working at height.
- Asbestos work.
- Hot work.
- Stress/cold work
- Crane or heavy lift.
- Isolation of essential services (water or power).
- Structural penetration (poly-panel penetrationt).
- removal of guarding, etc.
NZQA Unit Standards
- 17588: Apply for, accept, and carry out jobs according to a workplace permit.
- 17590: Issue worksite-specific permits.
